Join us as we explore activities for music literacy and composition as a means to encourage active music making and creativity in the music room and at home. Participants will experience a variety of activities in both tech and non-tech options. These ideas can be applied to distance learning, in-person learning, or a hybrid of both. About Carrie:
Carrie Nicholas has taught for 19 years as an elementary general music specialist. Carrie currently teaches K-6 general music at Molholm Elementary School in Lakewood, CO. She received her bachelor’s degree of Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan University and a master’s degree of Music Education with Kodály Emphasis from Colorado State University. Carrie received her Level III Kodály certification from CSU in 2005. She is an active presenter, having shared sessions and presentations in the Adams 14 School District, Jeffco Public Schools, the CMEA (Colorado State Music Educators Association) state conference, the OAKE (Organization of American Kodály Educators) national conference, and the OAKE Western Division mini-conference. Carrie is a proud member of OAKE. She is past-president of ROCKE and past-president of the Western Division of OAKE. Carrie be joining the staff at the Colorado Kodály Institute as Level III Pedagogy and Folk Song Analysis instructor.
