Kodály Meets Orff: Applying the Best of Both Worlds for Learning and Creating


Liza Meyers has years of experience blending approaches, teaching strategies, and repertoire from both her Kodály and Orff training. In this fun, interactive workshop, we will explore both philosophies to gain a better understanding of each and how they can work together for the benefit of our students' musical expression and understanding. Come ready to play, sing, and move as we learn and create together!

CDE Credit (professional development hours) is available at all workshops for no extra cost!
Graduate Credit is available through Adams State University to those who attend all three workshops!​

About Liza:

Dr. Liza Meyers is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Education at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and has also taught music education courses at Adelphi University in Garden City, New Jersey. She taught elementary music for 17 years in Arizona and New York City.  She has taught in  Kodály Certification Courses at Arizona State University, University of Central Missouri, Ouachita Baptist University, University of Montevallo, and Morehead State University. She is a Past-President of the Western Division of OAKE and served as Conference Chair for the 2012 OAKE National Conference in Phoenix. Her Bachelor's degree is from Capital University in Ohio and her Master's and Doctorate are both from Arizona State University. She has also studied at the Kodály Institute in Kecskemét, Hungary, as well as in Japan as part of the Fulbright Studies Program. She lives in Ohio with her husband, Brian, who is also a professor of Music Education at Miami University.
