During this workshop we will learn Jewish folk dances, ranging from very simple to much more complex footwork. We will sing Jewish songs both folk and liturgical. We will also learn some of the history and significance of these Jewish art forms. The songs will be in Hebrew and Yiddish, with a possibility of some Ladino. These songs include those sung on the Sabbath, arrangements of well-known Jewish liturgical and secular songs, and Israeli game songs. We will also explore some Jewish choral music, focusing mostly on treble voicing with a few pieces for older choirs.
