Composing Through Critical and Creative Thinking

Join Anne in this interactive, virtual workshop as you compose with intentional connections to creativity and critical thinking. Participants will engage and reflect in composition through inquiry and discovery, while finding immediate connections to their student-centered music classroom.
Please have a recorder, your favorite piece of small percussion, a barred instrument, and paper or a small whiteboard/paper to draw on for the session.

CDE Clock Hours* are available at all workshops for no extra cost!
Graduate Credit* is available through Adams State University for participating in all four online workshops.

About Anne:

Anne Fennell is President Elect for the California Music Educators Association, the K-12 Music Program Manager for San Diego Unified School District in San Diego, CA, and the Immediate Past Chair for the National Association for Music Education’s Innovation Council.  She holds a Bachelors in Music Education, a Masters in Educational Leadership Studies, Orff-Schulwerk Levels: I-II-III and over 90 additional graduate hours. Her experiences include 32 years of teaching music composition and steel drum ensembles (grades 9-12), Kindergarten-Grade 8 music through Orff-Schulwerk, and leading vocal and instrumental ensembles in civic, professional, and national performances.  Anne is a published author with Pearson, the GRAMMY Foundation, Percussion Marketing Council, and Disney’s Little/Baby Einsteins. She presents nationally and internationally: the American Orff-Schulwerk Association and National Association for Music Education Conferences, the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, China Music Education conferences with the International Music Products Industry (NAMM), and ISME. She has received numerous state and national awards, including the 2020 Technology in Music Education National Teacher of the Year, 2017 Magnet Schools of America National Teacher of the Year, top 10 GRAMMY Music Educator Finalist for 2016, and top 3 Music Educator award from Music and Arts in 2015.
