September 19th: Tony Hartman || Double Feature "Elementary: Instrumentally" and "From Folk Songs to Songwriters"
The first block we will experience sequencing and normalizing instrument use throughout the elementary grades.
The second block we will experience how to sequence songwriting skills into the curriculum to prepare upper elementary and middle school students for songwriting projects.
Tony Hartman is a musician, educator, and composer based in Middle Tennessee. He teaches K-5 general music, and is also director of Steel de Boro: a 4-5th grade steel pan program. He is an Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Middle Tennessee State University. He has also taught beginning band and jazz band. He has presented workshops and sessions at Western Division Conference for Organization of American Kodály Educators, QUAVERcon, Tennessee Arts Academy, the Colorado Kodály Institute, the Colorado, Kentucky, Iowa, and Tennessee Music Education Conferences, Sierra Nevada Association of Kodály Educators (SNAKE), and the Middle Tennessee Association of Kodály Educators (MTAKE).
