During this unprecedented time of teaching and learning, don’t forget the basics on which Kodály inspired teaching is built! This workshop will begin with an overview of the major tenants of the Kodály philosophy and will be useful for new or experienced teachers. Revisiting the basic principles will refocus our teaching as well as center ourselves around the philosophy within the new mindset of online/virtual teaching and social distancing. The second half of the workshop will build upon these foundational principles and specifically target assessment. Ideas will be shared for in person instruction, virtual lessons and what to do in a hybrid world of teaching. Sounds serious, but this “Tune-Up” will be rooted in the joy and music making that the Kodály philosophy embodies!
