Please be sure you take a look at the Syllabus and requirements for credit by clicking on the link below: FAQ: Can I receive credit for attending ROCKE workshops? Yes! ROCKE offers two options for workshop participants : CDE Clock Hours or Graduate Credit.
What are CDE Clock Hours? ROCKE is authorized through the Colorado Department of Education to offer clock hours for the time spent at workshops. Each workshop is equivalent to six (6) clock hours of professional development. Every five (5) years, you must provide proof of completing either 90 clock hours or 6 graduate credits of continuing education. The 6 clock hours you earn at each workshop can be used to count towards the 90 hours required to renew your teaching license.
How do I sign up for CDE Clock Hours? Simply add your name and email to the CDE Clock Hours Sign-Up Google Form at the registration table and enjoy the workshop! A board member will send you a certificate via email saying that you completed the hours; this certificate will be available at the end of the workshop. Remember check in with a board member before you leave the workshop to receive this credit!
How much do CDE Clock Hours cost? Nothing! We offer these hours to all participants absolutely free.
Can I use CDE Clock Hours for salary advancement in my district? That depends on your district. Check with your district's HR prior to attending a workshop if you are hoping to use these clock hours for salary advancement.
I need Graduate Credits for salary advancement in my district. Are these available at ROCKE workshops? Participants can earn one (1) graduate credit for attending all three workshops.
Who is ROCKE's university partner for Graduate Credits? ROCKE has partnered with Adams State University to offer graduate credits. Adams State is a fully-accredited university. The credit will come directly from ASU on an ASU transcript. ASU considers one graduate credit to be equivalent to 15 hours of "class" or coursework. Each of the ROCKE workshops is considered 5 hours of instruction time, so participants must attend all three workshops to earn the credit.
Are there other requirements for earning Graduate Credit? In order to receive a Passing grade, the participant must:
Attend the workshops for the 2023-2024 ROCKE season. Participants must sign in at the beginning of the workshop and sign out when leaving to receive full credit for attendance.
Actively participate in all activities.
Attend before-workshop and after-workshop activities as outlined below.
Teach a short (5-10 minute) “tried-and-true” lesson fragment to class participants.
Submit a written reflection paper, due April 30. This 1-2 page paper should detail at least one big idea or activity from each workshop and list how the participant will incorporate it into their classroom.
How do I register for Graduate Credit? There are two steps to register for Graduate Credit. First - check in with the Credit Coordinator at the beginning and end of each workshop. You will sign an attendance sheet. Be sure to have it initialed before you leave at the end of the workshop! Second - in December or January, look for an email from the Credit Coordinator with a link to register with Adams State University. The link will stay open until the last workshop, so don't forget to register before then!
Can I register with Adams State in the fall? Unfortunately, no. Adams State considers the ROCKE workshops to be a Spring semester "course" because the final workshop and reflection deadline are in the spring. ASU will send the Credit Coordinator a link for registration when the course has been created in their system - keep your eyes peeled for an email with the registration link in December or early January.
How much does the Graduate Credit cost? It is cheap! ASU only charges $55 for one graduate credit.
How do I submit payment for the Graduate Credit? You will pay Adams State University directly when you register online in December or January. ROCKE does not handle any payments for graduate credit.
How do I order transcripts? You don't need to! Adams State University will automatically send you a transcript free of charge once grades have been posted. If you have completed any other coursework through ASU, the transcript will include all of it up to that date.
What if I have another question about Clock Hours or Credit? Do not hesitate to reach out! Either use the form on the Contact Us page of the website or email the ROCKE Secretary directly at [email protected] and will will be happy to answer any questions you might have!
